Our bellies are full of good, good food and drink. We celebrated Christmas with family and soaked in the sunshine. We sang Christmas carols, walked up Mt Kaukau and admired the red pohutakawas that are blooming throughout Wellington. Merry Christmas everyone!

I definitely need more details on that cake please – did you make it? Is that gold tui icing? How did you do that? It’s amazing!
Also, is that a Baked Alaska? Nom!

Merry Boxing Day! Yep, I made the cake. I bought that roll-out white pettinice icing, and shaped it, then used edible gold paint to paint the tui & kowhai flowers with several coats. Have used it before too: http://suminhorto.wordpress.com/2009/12/01/its-raining-so-heres-a-golden-cake/
And the pudding was a modified version of this splendid creature from Mr Oliver: http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pastry-cake/winter-pudding-bombe Was bloody delicious – will definitely make again!
